Ground Zero |
The 'Main Lands', as it's been dubbed by the animals, is the heart of where the infection started. Within months of the satalite crash twenty years ago, the humans took over a buildings for a science facility. The scientists were dedicated to studying the 'plague' to find a cure. This research never came to fruition however. The laboratory became a nightmare for many animals that were studied upon. This was a very dark time for the lands, being the main cause for the high concentration of infection during this time period. Eventually the facility was over-run with chaos and left abandoned. Over the years, like the small village, the building collapsed. The South-West area of Ground Zero is largely flooded over now. One can still see the foundation of the few houses and what little remains left of the laboratory. Many creatures stay away from the area due to it's dark history. It's said to be cursed by the countless souls tortured by the lab and it's inhumane tests. As creatures have adapted to the plague so has the Earth. The Main Lands has begun to heal slowly over the years. It's now a thick swamp filled with plant life and primarily willow trees. The water here is clean, but usually coated by a film of algae and fallen leaves. There's an abundance of duckweed, cow lilies and various reeds as well. Aside from the central land mass, the majority of the Main Lands is broken up into smaller sections by the water. One of these segregated islands to the North is where the entrance to Fallacy Labyrinth is. The burrowed out area is hard to find for those uncertain on it's exact location. It's completely covered by lichen and a thick array of ferns and moss. There's a set of cliffs bordering a river that goes directly through the middle of Ground Zero. This serves as an excellent divider between the more healthier and barren area that hasn't been able to heal. The South-West side of Main Lands gradually gets more rocky with the terrain. The ground here is almost charred and littered with jagged rock formations and boulders. The steep cliffs and hills are dotted with dead trees. No sane creature dares to enter this waste-land area of Ground Zero. The crack leading into Delusional Chasm is nestled a long the side of one of the cliffs here. The chance of stumbling upon a Caedis member deters most from venturing deep into this area. Those brave enough to do so may very well not survive to tell the tale. It's a common to find various bones and skeletal remains stuck within the mud and sediments of this rocky landscape. |
