It was only recently that the inhabitants of Ground Zero began branching out to the surrounding areas. Cryptic Thicket is a overall mystery. It hasn't been fully explored and still holds many secrets. The trees here are seemingly ancient, with thick trucks and heavy canopies. This area is always dimly lit and covered in shadow as the looming trees block out the majority of the sun. A thick sea of fog in constantly present and makes for a small field of vision. The glowing mushrooms Ground Zero has become known for are abundant here. The fungi gives off a faint glow and comes in a multitude of shades and types. Cryptic Thicket is primarily made up deciduous trees with the occasional redwood. The foliage here is heavy and some parts are nearly impassible due to the sheer number of overgrown tree roots. In the North of the forest is an odd site with large boulders positioned in a circular pattern. The area is littered with canine remains which leads many to assume a pack of some sort used to call the thicket home. It's uncertain what happened to them. Some say they were killed off by the forest itself and that you can hear their otherworldly howls in the wind at night. All animals seem to avoid the place and superstition has kept any from disturbing the remains. Cryptic Thicket has remained unclaimed, though many venture into it's depths for the plethoral of prey and herbs. |
